What is the drinking age & how late do bars stay open in Mexico?
The drinking age in Mexico is 18 years of age. However getting drunk & becoming stupid is possible at any age.
So how late can bars stay open until? all depending on how busy a bar is, they are able to stay open until 3:00 a.m. in the resort towns & 2:00 a.m.
in Caborca & Obregón. Enjoy yourself here in Mexico, however it is against the law for public drunkenness, and you could spend the night or more
in the Jusco (Jail). So we recommend you enjoy your alcohol, but don't abuse it.

What are the drinking laws in Mexico?
The laws regarding drinking & driving in Mexico are no much different than the U.S. One difference is that
the drinking age in Mexico is 18 years old. It is Illegal to drive while intoxicated or to have open containers in the car. It is very expensive to get a DUI ticket in
the U.S., it can also be in Mexico. Your Mexican insurance is void if you have been drinking & have an accident. If there are injuries and complications, you have
just enter the Mexican legal system. Mexico has it's own set of laws. You are guilty until proven innocent. Quite the opposite from the U.S.
So we suggest you do your drinking at the house or pool side and DO NOT DRINK & DRIVE. Use the designated
driver method of safe driving as used in the States. Make your vacation one with good memories.

What are the drug laws in Mexico?
Mexico rigorously prosecutes drug cases. Under Mexican law, possession of and trafficking in illegal drugs are federal
offenses. For drug trafficking, bail does not exist. Convicted offenders can expect lengthy jail sentences and fines. Sentences for possession of drugs in Mexico can be
as long as 25 years plus fines. Just as in the U.S., the purchase of controlled medication requires a doctor's prescription. The Mexican list of controlled medication
differs from the U.S. list and Mexican public health laws concerning controlled medication are unclear. Possession of excessive amounts of a psychotropic drug such
as valium can result in your arrest if the authorities suspect abuse.
Mexican law does not differentiate between types of narcotics. Heroin, marijuana, and
amphetamines, for example, are treated the same. Offenders found guilty of possessing more than a token amount of any narcotic substance are subject to a
minimum sentence of 10 years, and it is not uncommon for persons charged with drug offenses to be detained for up to 1 year before a verdict is reached. Remember,
if narcotics are found in your vehicle, you are subject to arrest and your vehicle can be confiscated. Your Mexican Auto Insurance will not cover this.

How do they make tequila?
When the Spanish conquistadors arrived, they tasted pulque and set about distilling it. One reason for this was
to make it stronger, and another to improve the taste for the Spanish palate. They also decided that the blue agave produced the best tasting pulque. Production
began to be centered where blue agave flourished, around the town of Tequila in the state of Jalisco, hence the name of the drink. The first commercial distilleries
were established in the mid- 1700s.
After World War 2, the Tequila producers and the Mexican government declared that the only drink that could carry
the name "Tequila" had to be cultivated and distilled in a clearly demarcated zone around Jalisco, Mexico. The government also regulates how Tequila is produced
and verifies the production process of each distillery. In 1997, WTO and the E.U. agreed that "Tequila" cannot be produced outside of Mexico making Tequila one
of the world's few geographically defined liquors. There are nearly 600 brands of Tequila now produced in Mexico, but only the major brands are exported.
