The rules on riding ATV's in town
The city has experienced a high number of accidents, thus they
have passed some new laws recently restricting the use of A.T.V.'s. The following are a few of
these laws:
1.) Only two riders per bike,
2.) No riding on the beach,
3.) No drinking & driving,
4.) No driving at night,
5.) No exceeding the speed limit (25 mph),
6.) No passing on the right,
7.) No drivers under the age of 16 and
8.) No riding on Benito Juárez & Old Port.
There are a number of businesses
that rent A.T.V.s & riders need to remember safety should always be priority #1. Make sure you have all the proper safety
equipment, follow the laws and watch out for others. Be safe & you'll have a fun vacation.

Where can we go riding in Rocky Point?
This is a good question, as the real estate boom has limited our access to many areas that used to be
explorable. There no longer is any riding on the beaches within the city limits (except to launch watercraft). Many of the beachfront communities
are in the city limits & they are enforcing the no riding laws. In addition, rides out to estuaries that we used to visit are now fenced denying
access. We know that the Sandy Beach area has several places to ride, but they are getting smaller as time goes by. With the new coastal highway
opening up, the northern coast is more accessible. The East Beach areas of Playa Encanto, Playa Miramar & Mayan Palace area have many more fences
then several years ago.
One can ride in the open desert, however we recommend that you be aware of the plant life, as it takes many years
to repair one afternoon zipping through the flauna. For those who enjoy this sport & are aware of good places to ride, e-mail us some
information, so we may pass it along to others. It is important that the "community of riders" be respectful of the land & others or, we all will feel
the affects of the restrictions.

What do we need, if we bring a trailer, a sand rail, A.T.V.?
If you are bring in any of these items, you will need the title work
showing ownership. We have been told that a you won't need the original title, a copy will suffice. However you have traveled
this far, it would be a shame to need it & not have it.
If you are not the owner of the "toy", you will either
need the lease agreement giving you permission to take the toy to Mexico or a notarized statement from the owner giving you
that permission. The statement should include pertinent information such as; The owner of record, vehicle id numbers, make, model etc…
Be sure to have the proper insurance to cover your vehicle. Come on down and have fun, but be respectful of the desert and others.

We want to bring our own Jet Ski down.
There are several issues you need to deal with. In the event you bring a jet ski, see the above question regarding crossing
the border with a trailer. You will need the proper paperwork. Secondly, you will need to check on overnight storage. If you are staying in a condo at Sandy Beach,
there are is security at most of the developments, however you should use extreme care in locking it up. Thirdly, Las Conchas may not allow a jet ski trailer inside
it's gates.
Last and not least, the salt water is very hard on the unit, you will need to flush the engine with clean water. When using a jet ski, beaware of people,
as our warm water and low tides are wonderful for swimming. People may be further from the beach then you would expect. Have fun a be respectful of all parties at the beach.
